Description

For those who don't know, SRW is a major company within the Flickr PMG community :)

A joint effort between the UK, US and Australia to produce a modified version of the steady AUG platform, for the Australian SAS (ASAS). With research, development and design being held across UK and US SRW branches, as well as constant contact with the ASAS. The AUG redesign was started from scratch from the ground up. The first obvious difference is shape, SRW completely redesigned both receivers. The lower has lost the characteristic AUG shape, in favour of weight loss. Another of the major modifications to the AUG is the fact that the Canberra chambers the 7.62x51mm round instead of the 5.56x45mm round, which is receiving criticism form operators. The "Canberra" magwell accepts Mapul's 20 round LR magazine, as well has various other such magazines. Another of the major modifications is that of the fact that SRW integrated the FAB Defense AG-43 grip into the receiver, improving the rifle's ergonomics. The upper receiver has also underwent some major modifications. Obviously SRW were clever enough to convert the upper receiver to 762 as well as the lower. Aside from that, other modifications include the addition of an adjustable cheekrest, lengthy top rails, as well as a funky little RIS up front. The RIS has cut-outs to aid with weight loss, as well as a small side-rail for attaching torched or PEQs. The charging handle is left and right side, the safety is similar. The Mod.1 differs in that it showcases a custom made T-1 aand magnifying lense optical combo, SRW PEQ-1, suppressor and a modified Surefire. The safety is modelled of that of the M4, so ASAS operators who are coming of the Diemaco C7 platform will be familiar. A PRS style buttpad was also a welcomed addition. The top rail comes with Magpul MBUS sights as standard. Th 762 barrel was custom made for this project, and features no muzzlebreak/MFE as the recoil is incredibly manageable due to reworked internals.
